Pesarratu

Our Indian Traditional foods are so balanced and filling. Thanks to my blog, If not I might not have looked into traditional recipes of other states. Pesarattu is a traditional Andhra Dish.
This is just like adai but instead of using a combination of lentils, it just uses green gram dhal. To make it more nutritious I made the green gram to sprout. The taste was really good. I would suggest you give this to kids at least twice a week.

Ingredients:

Green Gram- 1 cup
Ginger- 1 inch piece
Coriander leaves- few
Green Chilly- 1
Salt as per taste
Water- 100 ml

Method:

Wash and soak green gram for good 6 hours.
To make it sprout, just drain the water and leave it airy for 4 hours.
Take a mixer grinder and grind the soaked green gram along with ginger, coriander and green chilly.
Do not forget to add salt and water.
Now the batter is ready.
To add more taste: Finely chop onions.
Fry those onions in some oil till golden brown.
Add these fried onions to the batter and mix well.
Heat a tawa and make pesarattu.
Let is get crisp on both sides.
Serve hot with chutneys of your choice.
