Horse Gram Upma
Today is a real healthy dish that I am going to share. On my recent visit to a village near my place I happened to taste this yummy healthy dish. Its Horse Gram Upma. I always make Semiya Upma, Idly Upma and Rava Upma but this was really new and most healthy of all. You serve this the person having will not identify its Horsegram unless mentioned.
Horse Gram- 250 g
Water for soaking
Water- 400 ml
Salt as per taste
Curry Leaves- few
Mustard- 1 tbsp
Urad dhall- 1 tbsp
Green Chilly- 3 (Optional)
Oil- 4 tbsp
Soak washed horse gram in enough water for 4 hours minimum. (Horse gram should completely sink)
Grind the soaked horse gram with water and salt to a smooth paste using a mixer grinder.
Take an idly pan and make idlies with this batter.
After about 20 minutes the Horse gram idlies would be ready.
Let them cool down completely (You can refrigerate for 2 hours as well)
Now scramble the cooled idlies and keep aside.
Heat oil in a kadai.
By the time finely chop onions and carrots.
Fry mustard, curry leaves, urad dhall till urad dhall is golden brown.
Add onions, green chilly, carrot and fry till crisp.
Add scrambled horsegram idlies and mix well.
Remove from stove serve hot with dates chutney.
