Horse Gram Chutney

Its high time that we all should have a healthy balanced diet. With the growth of Processed and Preserved food outlets our health and overall Human Life is reducing. These junk foods and preservatives are just residue to our body and slowly eating us. I am now very particular to create an awareness to all near and dear and invoking lots of our precious healthy Indian Recipes. 

Horse gram has lots of nutritional value and many of us never even buy it not knowing what to cook with it. It is my humble request to my dear people that please include all lentils and cereals in your diet. Good for us elders and kids. Lets start having healthy food. Regarding horse gram recipes there is this Horsegram Upma. I shall add more recipes for Horse Gram. Lets hop into this delicious healthy chutney recipe.


Horse gram- 1/2 cup
Coconut- 1/2 cup
Red Chilly-4
Curry Leaves- few
Tamarind- a gooseberry size
Salt as per taste
Water- 1/2 cup

For Seasoning:

Oil- 1 tbsp
Mustard- 1 tbsp
Urad Dhall/Black gram- 1 tbsp
Curry Leaves- few


Heat a kadai and dry roast Horse gram for 5 minutes on high flame.
Add curry leaves, red chilly, coconut and fry for 2 more minutes.
Once the fried ingredients cool down grind the contents along with water, salt and tamarind to a smooth paste using a mixer - grinder.
In the same kadai heat oil and fry mustard, urad dhall and curry leaves.
Fry till mustard crackles and urad dhall becomes golden brown in color.
Add it to chutney and serve hot with Pesarattu.
