I can get to see your expression when you read the heading Ginger Chutney. A big piece of ginger in coconut chutney will itself hide the coconut taste. Now this is just ginger chutney; now how strong is that!! Believe me yes it is strong in flavor but not as strong as we imagine. The taste is good and goes well with Aval Idly and Kanjeevaram Idly.



Ingredients:

Ginger-50 g
Urad Dhall/ Black Gram- 2 tbsp
Red Chilly- 5
Bengal Gram- 1 tbsp
Tamarind- 1 lemon size ball
Jaggery- 20 g
Salt- as per taste

Method:
Ginger Chutney
  • Peel and wash ginger.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Fry all the ingredients except tamarind and jaggery.
  • Fry till a roasted aroma arises.
  • Let the fried ingredients cool down.
  • Grind the ingredients along with tamarind and jaggery to a smooth paste.
  • Serve hot with Pesarattu.
