Who cannot like a lunch that comprises of Steaming hot rice and ghee with tadka dhall? For a change instead of Thoor Dhall I wanted to try tadka dhal with bengal gram and it was so good. The taste was differentiable but was good. Hope you can try it too.



Ingredients:

Bengal Gram- 1 cup
Onion- 1
Tomato- 2
Red chillies- 3
Salt as per taste
Jeera/Cumin- 1 tbsp
Oil- 1 tbsp
Ghee- 2 tbsp
Garam masala- 1 tbsp
Mustard- 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves- few
Water- 2 cups
Turmeric- 1 tsp

Method:

  • Wash and soak dhal for 30 minutes minimum in excess water.
  • Pressure cook dhall with 2 cups of water, turmeric and jeera.
  • Run the cooked dhall in a mixer grinder to make a smooth paste.
  • Heat a kadai with oil and ghee.
  • Fry mustard,, red chillies and toss them well.
  • Add finely chopped onion and tomato and cook till oil separates from tomato.
  • Add Garam masala and cooked dhall.
  • Add finely chopped coriander leaves and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot with fulkha or rice.
