Potato Bonda

If you have left over potatoes from gravies or stir fries you can use them up to make bonda as tea time snack. I made potato podimas (will post a recipe super soon) and had some left over. Made them into yummy Potato Bonda's.

Ingredients:
Potato- 4
Onion- 1
Mustard- 1 tsp
Green chillies- 3
Salt

For the batter:

Besan/Roasted gram- 1 cup
Baking soda-1/2 tsp
Chilly powder- 1 tsp
Salt- as per taste
Water- 1/2 cup

Oil for Deep frying.

Method:

Potato Bonda
  • Pressure cook potatoes with peel.
  • De skin them and mash potatoes well.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and fry onion, mustard green chillies, turmeric and saute till crisp.
  • Put off the flame and add the seasoning to potato and mix them well.
  • This is Potato Podimas.
  • Make balls of Potato Podimas and keep aside.
  • In a bowl mix water, besan, baking soda, chilly powder salt and make a smooth lump free batter.
  • Dip these Potato balls in batter and deep fry in oil.
  • Serve hot with tea/Coffee.
