Onion Chutney

Onion Chutney is today's recipe. There are really many varieties of onion chutney and this one is with a twist of lentils. The chutney is quite nutty and crunchy and is wonderful when used as a dosa spread.

Ingredients:

Onion- 4
Garlic- 3 pods
Urad dhall (Black gram)- 1 tbsp
Bengal Gram - 1 tbsp
Oil- 3 tbsp
Red chilly- 5
Tamarind- a small piece
Salt as per taste

Method:
Onion Chutney
  • Chop onion into fine pieces.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Add bengal gram, black gram, garlic and red chillies.
  • Fry them well till black gram becomes golden brown.
  • Now add onion and salt and fry till onion becomes golden brown.
  • Put off the flame.
  • Let the ingredients cool down.
  • Grind to a smooth paste.
  • Spread on crispy dosa and enjoy.
