Welcome to today's recipe. Its the healthy tasty Dhal Makhani. I love this dish and its really tasty and better way to include more black gram in our diet. My toddler just loved it. He had 5 to 6 spoons of gravy.


Ingredients:

Whole Black Gram- 1 cup
Rajma- 1/4 cup
Water for soaking and pressure cooking
Ginger garlic paste- 2 tbsp
Star Anise- 1
Cloves- 2
Cinnamon- 1 piece
Butter- 3 tbsp
Cream- 1/2 cup
Chilly powder- 1 tbsp
Garam Masala- 1 tbsp
Tomato Puree- 2 cups
Salt as per taste

Dhal Makhani

  • Soak Black gram and Rajma together for 6 hours or overnight.
  • Wash the soaked lentils and pressure cook for 6 to 8 whistles.
  • Heat a kadai with butter.
  • Fry cinnamon, cloves, star anise.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry well.
  • Add red chilly powder and garam masala.
  • Fry for a couple of minutes.
  • Add tomato puree salt and boil for 2 minutes.
  • Add pressure cooked lentils (black gram and rajma) and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add fresh cream and put off the flame.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with some fresh cream on top.
  • Serve hot with naan/roti.
