Idly Upma

Today its a great recipe that I am going to share. Its idly upma. Many people prefer idly upma than plain idlies. Also its a wonderful tea time snack/ Brunch/ Lunch Box idea.

Before going into the recipe let me add tips of this recipe:

1. Idlies should be of room temperature (Do not use hot steaming idlies).
2. Add more garlic and turmeric as fried garlic and roasted turmeric combo gives a wonderful taste.

Now the Recipe

Ingredients: (For 2)

Idlies- 6
Onion- 2
Curry Leaves- Few
Turmeric- 1 tsp
Red Chillies- 3
Idly Podi- 1 tbsp
Salt- As per taste
Mustard - 1 tbsp
Garlic- 5

Method:

  • Chop onion to very fine pieces. Chop garlic and heat oil in a kadai.
  • Fry mustard, curry leaves, redchillies.
  • Add onion, garlic and saute them well.
  • Add tumeric and salt.
  • Scramble idlies and add them too.
  • Add idly powder and fry them all well for 5 min in high flame with constant stirring.
  • Serve hot.
