Chicken Biriyani

Who does not love Chicken Biriyani. I simply love Chicken Biriyani and there are many versions. This is one of my favorite version and then my next favorite version will be the Shahi Chicken Biriyani.


Grind Together:

Red chillies, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, clove, cardamom.
Measurements for 1 cup of rice:
Red chillies- 3
Ginger- 1 inch
Garlic- 5
Cinnamon- 2
Cloves- 2
Cardamom- 2
Here I have used 4 cups of rice.
Other ingredients:
Onion- 2
Pudhina- few
Coconut milk- 4 cups
Water- 2cups
Chicken stock 2 cups
Oil+ghee- 1 cup
Chicken -1/2 kg                
Rice- 4 cups

  • Grind the ingredients and keep aside. 
  • Cook chicken with water and measure stock to 2 cups. 
  • Take a coconut and extract 4 cups of milk. Slit onions and clean pudhina.
  • Heat a cooker add oil+ghee. Fry onions and pudhina. 
  • Add ground paste, chicken and rice and stir well. 
  • Add coconut milk, stock and water. 
  • Now add salt and adjust as per taste. 
  • Close the cooker and let steam come out well through the vent tube.
  •  Close the cooker and place the weight, simmer for 15 minutes. 
  • Swich off the flame after 15 minutes and let cooker cool down. Now open the lid and stir. 
  • Serve hot with chilli chicken.
