Green Chilly Chutney

Are you wondering how would this chutney taste. Do not panic looking at the number of green chillies. This is a very sweet-sour-hot chutney. If you taste this you can stop it. This can be a dip to crispy potato chips too.

Green chillies- 100 g
Tamarind- lemon sized
Salt- 2 tsp
Sugar- 1 tsp
Jaggery- 25 g
Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
Asafoetida powder- ¼ tsp
Oil-for frying


  • Wash Green Chillies and pat dry with kitchen towel.
  • Grind Green Chillies, with salt and tamarind till coarse. 
  • Heat oil in a kadai, splutter Mustard, add Asafoetida and then add the coarse paste to the kadai. 
  • Fry till tha raw smell goes.
  • Add sugar Jaggery and cook till the chutney thickens.
  • This would be a sour sweet and hot chutney.
  • Goes well with aloo chat, crispy vegetables and samosa.
